Do You Qualify

The majority of households and small businesses qualify for some sort of solar solution.  However, the following factors need to be taken into consideration and will influence whether you will be able to maximize the benefits of solar and be eligible for incentives:

SITE SPECIFIC ISSUES

Location: House, building or garden should receive unobstructed access to the suns path from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. year-round.  The site where the panels will be situated should not be blocked by other buildings, trees or other tall objects.

Size: The site should ideally face south or south-west and needs to be approximately 150-600 square feet (depending on the house size and energy requirements).  If you expect the panels to go on the roof, consider the age of the roof and whether any repairs need to be completed before installation.

INCENTIVE ELIGIBILITY

There are several basic requirements to ensure eligibility:

Utility: You must be a customer of the local utility offering solar specific incentives.

Electricity Meters: All projects have to be grid-tied and net metered and the system must have separate meters to measure the specific solar output.

Audit: Finally, you will typically have to have an energy efficiency audit by telephone or in person and all projects are approved by program administrators prior to installation.
